                                                                    PART 6
When they woke up, he was startled.  He looked around warily.  Something seemed.......different.  With a start, he realized what was wrong.  He reached over and shook Lilly awake.  “Lilly.....”
Lilly groaned and rolled over.  “Just five more minutes....”
He shook her harder.  “LILLY.  The island is moving!”  That woke her up.  “Moving?  Why would an island be......moving......”  Her voice drifted off as she stared in awe.  The island began to move faster.  “How is this......doing this?  It’s an island, for goodness’ sake!”  Lilly peered into the water.  Two large eyes peered back at her.  She squealed.  “EEK!!!  There’s something in there!”  She flew over to Firespark’s shoulder.
Firespark walked over to the edge of the island.  He looked into the eyes.  One of them winked.  Firespark, surprised, winked back.  The eyes seemed to rise, getting closer to the surface.  Suddenly, a giant green and blue head broke the surface of the water.
“AAAAAAHHHH!” yelled Firespark.  A noise came from the head.  It was laughing.
The sea serpent—for that was what it was—laughed long and hard.  While it was laughing, Lilly and Firespark got a good look at it.  Its scales looked similar to Firespark’s, but they felt more waxy.  Seaweed was caught on some of the scales.  It was a beautiful shade of sea green.  Its head was shaped like a dragon’s, but with two antennae growing from the middle of it.  Long fins, similar to those of an eel, ran along its sides.  It was altogether beautiful.
Finally, when it got itself under control, it looked at Firespark and Lilly.  “Well.  I was wondering when you two would wake up.”  Its eyes twinkled.  “Welcome to The Sea.  My name is Tellina.  My friends call me Tellie.  And you are....?”
“Oh!  I’m Firespark and this is Lilly,” Firespark said.  “Oh my goodness!  Are we.....on you?!”
The sea serpent laughed again.  “Yes, you are.  You fell asleep on my back!”
“I’m so sorry!” Lilly apologized.  She looked at Tellie.  “Wow.  I’ve never seen a sea serpent before.  Are they all like you?”
Tellie chuckled.  “No.  There’s as many different colors of sea serpents as there are colors of dragons,” she said with a wink.  Firespark laughed.
“Would you like a ride?” she asked.  Lilly looked at Firespark.  “Yes!” they exclaimed.  “Okay then,” said Tellie.  “Hang on!”
The two travelers screamed in excitement as they sped across the water.  Tellie looked behind her to see Firespark clutching Lilly in his hands, trying to make sure she didn’t blow away.  Both of their mouths were open, yelling in enjoyment of the exhilarating ride.
Suddenly, more sea serpents broke the surface of the water beside them.  Firespark counted three blue ones, two orange ones, and a baby green one.  All of them swam under, beside, and even looped above Tellie.  The baby stuck his tongue out at Lilly, who giggled when an adult whopped him over the head with her tail.
The ride continued until dark.  Finally, Tellie slowed down.  Which way do your feet say to go, Firespark?” she asked.
“How did you know about my feet?” asked Firespark in surprise.  “I didn’t tell you.”
“Sea serpents have their means of knowing things,” laughed Tellie.  “We make it our point to know what you land creatures are doing.  Eltobe is one of our informants.”
Lilly looked at Firespark.  “Wow,” she said.  “That is really cool.”
“My feet say to keep going this way,” said Firespark.  “The pull is getting stronger.  Let’s go!”
“Alright!  Hang on!”  Tellie raced across the sea again, straight toward the setting sun.  Squinting, the two travelers shaded their eyes as they looked at the sky.  Wispy clouds were tinted red, pink, purple, blue, orange, and yellow as the sun sank into the west.  Firespark and Lilly lay on Tellie’s back and snoozed as the sea shot past them.
*****************
Lilly woke up first.  It was dawn.  She investigated her surroundings.  Tellie had stopped swimming and was sleeping, with her head held over the water.  They were a few yards from the beach of a large island.  Mountains loomed in the distance.  A forest was to her right, while a field was to her left.  She flew over to Firespark and shook him awake.
“Look,” was all she said.  Firespark looked around sleepily and then saw it.  He gazed at it for a full minute.  Then he stood up and lifted into the air.  He flew straight toward the island.  Lilly followed him.  “Wait up!”
Wakened by their sounds, Tellie called after them.  “This is where I leave you.  Welcome to Dragon Island!”
“Amazing,” whispered Firespark, still gawking at the island.  “An island just for dragons!”
“I must go.  Come to the beach and visit me sometime,” Tellie said.  “Good bye!”
“Good bye!” called Lilly.  “Thank you for the ride!”
“Good bye!” Firespark yelled.  “See you soon!  Thanks for bringing us the rest of the way!”
“You’re welcome,” said Tellie.  She smoothly dove back into the water with hardly a ripple.
Lilly turned to Firespark.  “Well?  Now what?”
“Now we go that way,” stated Firespark with confidence.  “Let’s fly!”
They flew over the island.  It was bigger than they thought, almost the size of half of Fantasia.  They saw forests, mountains, plains, lakes, meadows, bogs, volcanoes, and lastly—
“A castle!” exclaimed Firespark.  “There’s a castle here!”
“Come on, let’s go see it!  Maybe your parents live there, or maybe we can find someone who knows them,” said Lilly.  She couldn’t wait to see more dragons.
“Okay,” Firespark replied.  They landed in front of the castle.  Fairy-sized Lilly, only eight inches tall, felt very dwarfed.  She rightly assumed the castle was built for dragons.
Two massive doors made of peculiar iron were set into the stone walls.  The iron sparkled, unlike regular, dull iron.  Lilly estimated the castle to be at least one league high, and two leagues long.  She gasped.  This was one big castle.  Instead of being built of stone blocks, it seemed to be hewn of one giant stone block.  Banners hung from the turrets and windows, each designed with a red and gold dragon.
“Should I knock?” asked Firespark in a whisper.

“I don’t know,” replied Lilly.  “I’ve never visited another castle before.”  Firespark had just raised his hand to knock when suddenly, a voice sounded from above.
