ROBERT JORDAN WITH BRANDON SANDERSON
~Stars: Four
~Author(s) of: The Wheel of Time series (The Eye of the World, The Great Hunt, The Dragon Reborn, The Shadows Rising, The Fires of Heaven, Lord of Chaos, A Crown of Swords, The Path of Daggers, Winter's Heart, Crossroads at Twilight, Knife of Dreams, A Memory of Light), books related to that series, the Conan series (Conan the Invincible, Defender, Unconquered, Triumphant, Magnificent, Destroyer, Victorious), two books connected to THAT series, and several unpublished books.
~Notes: Definitely one of my favorite authors of all time. Robert Jordan died before he could finish the Wheel of Time series (his best known books and the ones I’ve read) so Brandon Sanderson finished it off for him. Their writing styles are incredibly similar, so the transition was flawless. What I love about these is that these guys never leave out a person. Literally. One book will mention a random guy on the street, and then he shows up several books later and plays an important role. They’re awesome. The plot is so intricate, there’s so much history behind everything, and there’s so many sub plots and characters that there’s a lengthy index in the back.
Language: none. They have their own world’s cursing (blood and bloody flaming ashes, mother's milk in a cup [what even], "light" used as an exclamation, "goat kissing" used as an adjective, wow these got creative)
Romance: and this is why they’re iffy. There's a lot of romance. And since it’s an adult series, the characters (for the majority) are adults, and it is in a different culture (though I'm not sure that has much of an influence on the romance part, but anyways), there’s more than kissing. There are lots of kisses (slightly detailed, but less than Donita K. Paul’s), lots of conflicting thoughts and romantic thoughts about people, slightly detailed descriptions of low necklines and tight outfits, seductive women, seductive men, gambling, drunkenness, and implied but not detailed sexual scenes. I started these in middle school, stopped for a few years, and picked them back up over the summer after tenth grade. The romance becomes quite a bit more prominent.
This series was recommended to me by an adult. I did not just pick the books up from the library on a whim.
I would advise you to use discretion on whether or not to read these, considering your own maturity and ability to handle sexual content.
