CHUCK BLACK
~Stars:  Five
~Author of:  the Kingdom series (Kingdom's Dawn, Kingdom's Hope, Kingdom's Edge, Kingdom's Quest, Kingdom's Call, Kingdom's Reign), the Knights of Arethtrae series (Sir Kendrick and the Castle of Bel Lione, Sir Bentley and Holbrook Court, Sir Dalton and the Shadow Heart, Lady Carliss and the Waters of Moorue, Sir Quinlan and the Knights of Valor, Sir Rowan and the Camerian Conquest), the Wars of the Realm trilogy (Cloak of the Light, Rise of the Fallen, last one coming sometime soon), and some books on family building and that stuff.
~Notes:  This guy is an amazing author.  He is a Christian and both the Kingdom series and the Knights of Arethtrae series are allegories.  AMAZINGLY AWESOME AND COOL!!!!!!!!!
We own all of his books except the ones on family building and I have read all of them.  He is very good at Christian writing!!  I can't wait for the last Wars of the Realm book, they are so good!
Being a Christian author, this guy has no language in any of his books.  HE IS SO AWESOME.
As for romance, well, there is a little.  But just like Bryan Davis, it's pure romance.  In both Sir Dalton and Lady Carliss (those books are connected) there is romance.  They fall in love (of course), but Lady Carliss thinks that Sir Dalton is still in love with another lady and she thinks he's just teasing her when in reality he loves her and it's one big confused mess of feelings until the end.  They eventually sort it out but Lady Carliss especially struggles with her feelings for Sir Dalton.  The rest of the Knights series, though, is like no romance.  There may be a few ladies involved, but they play a VERY small part and eventually drop out and each book goes on without them.
The Kingdom series does have romance, but still very pure and there's not much of it.  Nothing mushy.
The Wars of the Realm trilogy also has romance.  Unlike the other books, they're set in our world (partly, but that's another story), so there's more NOW romance if you know what I mean.  The main character (Drew) falls in love with another main-ish character (Sydney).  HOWEVER, she's a Christian and he's not.  So they're both in love but Sydney's conscience and her religion prevent her from allowing a relationship with a non-Christian.  So Drew tries to ask her out a few times, thinks about her and how pretty she is, and tries to understand why she can't be his girlfriend, but it never happens.  I have this feeling that he will get converted in the last book and all can be right between them BUT it is, after all, just a feeling.
SO.  Check him out, he's awesome.
