Chapter 6: The Journey

Hey guys!!!
So I haven't been on in like over a week, and I'm sorry about that.  I went to the Wilds Christian camp (which, by the way, was AMAZING) and also right now I'm in Maryland.  So.  You may have noticed that I changed the title of my blog.  I thought that the other one was a little cheesy.  Ehehe
Um, also, I'm having technical difficulties (we didn't bring OUR computer to Maryland so I'm trying to get the right dox on my mom's computer).  I can't really find the current version of my book, so this may or may not be exactly what I have at home.  I will correct anything that's wrong when I am able.
Okay, peeps, read on!

                                                                         CHAPTER 6

Grace walked into the master bedroom of the suite.  It was not very large, but decent enough.  She was puzzled.  How could they get to Fantasia through a bedroom?
Rob, who was in front of her, walked over to the bed and sat on it.  “Okay, so traveling to Fantasia is very strange.” he said.  “Come look at this.”  He pointed to the post of the bed, near the right edge.
Grace came over and looked where Rob pointed.  A swirly eye adorned the bed post, around the size of a human eye.  “That,” Rob said, “is how you get to Fantasia.”  He looked at Grace.  She still was confused, and her face must have shown it, because Rob explained further.
“No one knows how, but you just put your eye to that one, and, poof, there you are!  Somehow you just...are in Fantasia.  All of a sudden.”  Grace knew her face was blank.  She was having a hard time believing this new information.  “All right.  I see you don’t believe me.  So, unless you object, I’m going to send Russell with you to Fantasia.” Rob said.
“Do I.....need anything?” Grace asked.  “Nah, whatever you need Russell will buy you.” said Rob.
    “There’s money there?”
“Yep, and shops, businesses, restaurants, and houses.  Pretty much anything on Earth, there’s a reproduction in Fantasia.  Somewhat.”
“Okay.  I’m ready to go.” said Grace.  She was not really ready, but she couldn’t wait to see if everything was really true.
“Let me go get Russell.” said Rob, and he walked out of the room.  He returned a short time later with Russell.
    “Ready to go?” he asked.
“More than I’ll ever be,” she said.
“Okay, so since this is your first time going, I’ll tell you what to expect.” Russell said.  “Traveling by portal is really weird.  It sort of tickles, and sort of hurts, but it’s over soon and you’re there.  We will end up in a meadow not far from the capitol city of Fantasia, Noinim.  There might be some monsters arriving not far from us, so try not to freak out.  There can be some scary things popping up where you don’t expect them.
    “Are you ready?” he said.
    “Yep.  Let’s go.” said Grace.
And so Russell placed his eye on the bedpost and disappeared.
Grace gasped.  Seeing someone disappear was very disturbing.  “It’s okay, he’s fine,” Rob said.  “Now you have to do the same.  Better do it now, before you start to freak out.  You just put your eye on the eye, and boom.  Hurry!”
Grace took a deep breath, held it, and placed her eye on the carving.
The first thing she thought was that her eyelids had changed colors.
    She realized they were closed.
When she opened them, she gasped.  A rainbow of swirling lights whirled around her, tugging at her clothes.  She felt a whoosh of air, and then—
She tumbled out of the portal into a grass-filled meadow bordered with trees.  Russell stood a few feet in front of her, investigating a neon pink butterfly as large as her hand.  He turned around.
“Oh, hello,” he said.  “How was your first journey through the portal?”
“Amazing,” Grace said.  “It was just wonderful.”
“Great!  So, are you ready to explore?”
“You bet I am!” Grace said.  She was surprised and happy that all Rob had told her was true.
“Okay, so I thought we could go to the library first so you could learn more about werewolves and Fantasia.  Sound good to you?”
“Sure!  So.....which way is the city?”
“It is...” Russell pointed forward.  “that way.”
A loud poof sounded behind them and they both turned.  Grace squealed.  A strange creature had flown from the portal.  It was small, the size of the large butterfly Grace had seen earlier.  It had wings which resembled that of the butterfly in shape, but the creature’s were transparent and blue.  The wings were attached to the back of a small body which looked human.  A strange glow surrounded the whole creature.  Grace knew enough about mythology to realize that this creature was a fairy.  She hoped that she didn't look strange.
“Hi Aunna!” said Russell.  “What are you up to?”
“Oh, nothing,” the fairy answered in a slightly tinkly voice.  “Who’s your friend?”
“This is Grace,” said Russell.  “Grace, this is Aunna.  I think you’ve probably already figured out that she’s a fairy.”
“Hello Grace!  How are you?” said Aunna.
“Fine, thank you,” replied Grace.  She figured Fantasia would never stop surprising her.
“Excuse me for asking, but what type of creature are you?” said Aunna.
“I’m a werewolf,” said Grace awkwardly.  “This is my first time in Fantasia.”
“Cool!  This must be so exiting for you!” said Aunna.
“It really is,” said Grace, and she meant it.
“Well, we’d better be going,” said Russell.  “I’ve got a lot to show Grace today.  Wait....oh, today’s a double moon day.  That means it’ll be a little longer than normal.” he explained.
“Oh yippee!” Aunna exclaimed.  “I love double moon days.  I think they are lucky days for everyone.  Anyway, I’ll go so you can show Grace around.  Maybe you can stay at the Flabby Frog.  Oh, Grace, that’s my mom’s inn.  And I am going to go before I bore you guys to death with my talking.  So, good bye!”  She fluttered above their heads and toward the city.
Grace looked at Russell and raised an eyebrow.  “Is she always like that?“
“Mostly,” said Russell.  “Almost all fairies are talkative and very upbeat.”
“Well,” said Grace.  “I’m ready to go explore.”
“Cool.  Then let’s go,” said Russell.  They walked toward the capital.  Grace’s insides were fluttering.  She was ready for the adventure of her life, and it was beginning.
