                                                                   CHAPTER 2
Grace had lived alone for as long as she could remember.  Paransville, or Nowheresville, as the residents called it, had been her home for all thirteen years of her life.  Paransville was in the middle of Montana, and also in the middle of nowhere, hence the nickname.  It was not a big town, with only a drugstore, a barber, a small school, a restaurant, and a hotel.  The locals often joked that the government didn’t even know Paransville existed.
Squashed in between the barber and the hotel was a small building.  It showed signs of once being a grubby pub, but had been greatly improved.  The building had two stories, with a large window on the bottom story placed beside the door.  Two windows with window boxes full of flowers adorned the second story.  Painted across the large window were the words, “Grace’s Mechanics.”  This was Grace’s business.  She had never gone to school, and did not need to.  She made money by repairing machines.  She was quite smart for her age.
Grace lived on the top story of the building and worked on the bottom.  She had a very mechanical mind, and was constantly asking for scrap metal, which she made into all kinds of metalworks.  Her creations ranged from art to even a cell phone she made for herself.  However, her talent was wasted in the small town of Paransville.
On a normal day, Grace looked normal.  She was tall for her age, 13, and slender.  Her hair was wavy and black and her eyes were green.  She love wearing silver jewelry, a green shirt, and jeans.  But every full moon, she changed.  She changed into a wolf.  A strong, snarling, bloodthirsty wolf.  Grace went into a sort of a trance when she was a wolf.  She would forget her friends, her life as a human, everything.  All she thought about was blood.  After the sun rose, she changed into human form and did not remember a bit of what she was just thinking.  To avoid killing anyone in Paransville, she had a sturdy shack built behind her shop.  She had learned from experience that it was a very bad idea to be around innocent bystanders whenever she was in wolf form.  Every month on the full moon, she went in and did not appear until morning.
She knew she was a werewolf.  She had researched her condition.  The whole town knew as well.  But no one talked about it.  She was a werewolf, and that was that.  She lived a normal life, except for once a month.

That is, Grace lived a normal life until one day she met people who would change her life.  It all started on a windy day in October.

THIS is the part I'm really, really concerned about.  It's so rocky and awkward, but I can't think of any other way to put it.
