Okay, I thought I'd start out with my ALL STAR FAVORITE author. :)
---------
BRANDON MULL
~Stars: Five
~Author of: the Fablehaven series (Fablehaven, Rise of the Evening Star, Grip of the Shadow Plague, Secrets of the Dragon Sanctuary, Keys to the Demon Prison), the Beyonders series (A World Without Heroes, Seeds of Rebellion, Fulfilling the Prophesy), the Candy Shop War series (The Candy Shop War, The Arcade Catastrophe), the Five Kingdoms series (Sky Raiders, The Rouge Knight, Crystal Keepers, and two more on their way), the first book of the Spirit Animals series, and two picture books.
~Notes: Brandon Mull is a fantastic author. Like really. He's great. I have read all of his books except the Fablehaven series and the picture books. So, the Beyonders series is COMPLETELY clean. No cussing, no bywords, no using God's name in vain. Hardly any romance. The romance in that series is very subtle (the main characters are 13) and only include thoughts of the characters about others and "Hey I think she likes you."
The Candy Shop War series is the same thing. No ugly words and VERY subtle romance.
The Five Kingdoms series is the basic same thing, BUT. The romance in the books I've read (#1 and part of #2) is more......easily noticed. Still no language, but there is some romance. Then again, the main characters ARE like 11, so the romance is still innocent.
Spirit Animals is a strange series. Brandon Mull started the series by writing the first book, but other authors have written the remaining books. There is no language but slightly more romance. The main characters are about 12. The romance is more defined. As in, there are two boys and two girls, guess what happens? There ends up being two couples. The kids get separated sometimes, and they think about each other, occasionally an awkward scene or two, maybe holding hands, but that's it.
Now. Fablehaven. I have not read those. My mom read the first one to us a few years ago, but she edited while she went. I believe that there is romance in the later books. In the first book, I know there is at least heck, but I don't know what other ugly language or bywords there are in the entire series. Fablehaven was his first series, so I think he was inexperienced at the time. :) That's all I know.
