                                                                     CHAPTER 10
Not too long after the conversation with the seer at the castle, Grace and Russell reached the library.  It was a big stone building, with THE LIBRARY inscribed in several different languages above the door.  They went inside.
Strangely, the library looked bigger from the inside.  It looked like a regular library, but some of the shelves were filled with scrolls.  Russell led Grace over to a checkout counter.  A cheerful looking elf (Grace could tell she was an elf because of her pointed ears) whose name tag read “Gloria” sat behind the desk.
“Hello kids, can I help you with something?” she asked in a voice which reminded Grace of bells.
“Yeah,” said Russell.  “We’re looking for books on Fantasia, like how it was created and the history and stuff.”
“Oh sure, just follow me!” said Gloria, getting up from her chair.  She led them upstairs to a long shelf.  “This should do it,” she said, “but most of these are super boring.  Let’s see, hmm.  Aha!!  This one will do.”  She pulled a dusty book off of the shelf.  Dust poofed everywhere.  “It’s dusy, but it’s interesting.  Have fun, and tissues are over there if you need them!”  She left.
“Well, okay,” said Russell.  “I guess we’ll use this.”  He blew off the book, and it poofed again.  Grace sneezed twice.  Russell coughed.  “We’d (cough) better go somewhere where I can put (cough) this down.  It’s heavy! (cough!)” he said.  They went over to a table.  Russell plopped the book down, which caused another round of sneezing and coughing.  “Russell, STOP,” said Grace.  “Sorry,” said Russell.  They sat down and opened the book.
It was written in a scrolly font, like calligraphy.  Grace nuged Russell.  “Come on, read it!” she said eagerly.
“Me?  Oh, okay.”  He cleared his throat.
“Contrary to common opinion, Fantasia has not been around since the dawn of time.  Originaly, humans and creatures lived in harmony.  This continued for hundreds of years, until the Evil One came into being.
“He was created by a wizard, who wanted to create something to make him the most powerful being on Earth.  The wizard, whose name was Dapi, made the Evil One, who posessed him.  Dapi conscripted an army of creatures, to march upon the humans.  But the humans had some of the monsters on their side.  The wars raged for 15 years, until a werewolf defeated Dapi in an epic battle, the details of which are known only to the oldest of creatures.  The creatures and humans hailed the werewolf as their king, and he ruled the land.  His name was Oiram.
“However, not all was peacefull.  The Evil One was not destroyed with Dapi, and continued to search for a creature or human to own again.  He eventually found a werewolf in King Oiram’s court who was beginning to question the king’s rule.  The Evil One went in to the werewolf named Zyo, and possesed him.  Zyo betrayed King Oriam and war was in the land again.
“The humans were tired of war by then, and protested against the monsters.  King Oriam promised them that if they would join him to win the war, he would create a separate world for monsters.  The humans agreed, and with their help King Oiram won the war.  Zyo was killed, but the Evil One escaped once more.
“True to his word, the King gathered all the wizards and witches and magic-users in the land, and together they created Fantasia, away from prying eyes.  They created a way to get there, and were soon settled int the land.  First, they built a capital city, and in it the castle of Nynal, where King Oiram settled.  The creature spread out in the land, intermarrying.  The problem with this was they created creature mutants, who went insane and hurt others.  So, the king created provinces, one for each type of creature.  This kept them from intermarrying and causing trouble.  Each province had a governer, who reported to the king every month.  This system is still used today.  The mutants were supposedly locked up in a remote province on the west coast of Fantasia by The Wall, a giant, magic-inforced wall.  To this day, no one really knows if they still exist.  The capital city of Fantasia, which was called Noinim, became a place where all creatures could unite, mingle, sell, and shop.
“The creatures learned to mask their true form and take on a human form, and some entered the human world and intermarried, creating mons.  The good king died, and his son reined in his stead.  Fantasia has been ruled by werewolves for thousands of years.  All was peaceful until the appearance of the Evil One once more.
“Zyo’s line had continued, and his great-great-great-great-great-great-great-great-great-great-great-grandson Gryzo was possesed by the Evil One.  One night, he attacked the Casle Nynal with a force of evil werewolves who had somehow become stuck between wolf and human form, so that they were wolf-men hybrids.  They took the name Rynests.  Gryzo captured the king, queen, and all the werewolves in the land, and took over Fantasia.  He locked the royal family and their subjects in the dungeon.  Legend says that the royal family has a great treasure, stored in a room somewhere in the castle.  The room can only be opened if the whole family is present.  Gryzo wants this legendary treasure, but he lacks one little part of the key.  The king, Daniel, and queen, Rosalyn, had a daughter.  Somehow, no one knows how, the girl got away from Gryzo.  She hasn’t been seen in the land for 13 years.  Gryzo wants this little princess.  He will stop at nothing to get her.
                                                                            “BEWARE!!!!!”
